An All Airmail Exhibition at the American Philatelic Center

Aerophilately 2007 is a one-time all Airmail, World Series of Philately exhibition that will be held October 19-21 at the American Philatelic Center in Bellefonte, PA.

200 frames of exhibits as well as 12 dealers specializing in Airmail will be at the show.

The International Federation of Aerophilatelic Societies (FISA) will hold their 43rd Congress on Saturday, October 20th at Aerophilately 2007.

Friday October 19, 2007

09:45: Opening Ceremonies

10:00: Aerophilately 2007 Opens

10:00 - 11:00: Covers Across the Canadian-American Border, Chris Hargreaves

11:15 - 12:15: Early Trans-Atlantic Airmail Developments, David Crotty

12:30 - 1:30: Irish Airmails, Karl Winkleman

14:00 - 15:00: Fundamentals of Collecting Balloon Mail, Maureen & Chris Lynch

15:15 - 16:15: East African Airmails, Paul Magid

16:30 - 17:30: “The Jenny” - Production Variations of America’s First Airmail Stamp, Don David Price

18:00: Aerophilately 2007 Closes for the Day

18:30: Wine & Cheese Party Hosted by Nutmeg Stamp Company. Hampton Inn, State College.

Saturday October 20, 2007

10:00: Aerophilately 2007 Opens

10:00 - 12:00: FISA Congress (Delegates should bring proxies by 09:30)

12:30 - 2:30: FISA Lunch (Tickets must be booked in advance by Sep. 20th with Jackie Bekaert at fax +32 9 228 6866. Cost for spouses & non-FISA Delegates is $27.00 per person)

15:00 - 16:30: Judges’ Critique

16:45 - 17:45: Air Crash Mail of Pan American World Airways, Ken Sanford

18:00: Aerophilately 2007 Closes for the Day

19:00: Awards Banquet (tickets available in advance from kaerophil@gmail.com or at AAMS table)

The Grand Award winner at Aerophilately 2007 will be expected to compete in the 2008 APS Champion of Champions Competition.

HOTEL INFORMATION:

The AAMS has reserved blocks of rooms at the following hotels at a special rate of US$81.00 per night for single, double. triple or quad, plus 8.5% state tax. Suites are US$159.99 plus tax. The Holiday Inn Express includes a Continental breakfast and the Hampton Inn provides a hot breakfast. State College is 13 miles (21 kilometers) from Bellefonte and the two hotels are next to each other.

Reservations should be made directly with the hotels, and reference to the "American Air Mail Society" group rate must be made. Reservations for arrival after 6:00 PM. (1800) must be secured with a credit card.

AIR TRAVEL INFORMATION:

While the State College Airport (SCE) is small, there are non-stop air connections from the following US Gateway cities:

  • Baltimore (BWI) via US Air
  • Cincinnati (CVG) via Delta
  • Detroit (DTW) via Northwest
  • Philadelphia (PHL) via US Air
  • Pittsburgh (PIT) via US Air
  • Washington Dulles (IAD) via United
  • Atlanta (ATL) via Delta

Unfortunately, there are no non-stop flights to State College from Boston, JFK or Newark.
